When we drove around this area it was just as we'd imagined from the guidebooks - dry and dusty. Once we got back to Adelaide however we started to hear on the TV and radio about really heavy rains that were causing floods. In fact Boris & Clementine (our young French relative and his girlfriend) changed their plans, and went to Kangaroo Island instead of The Flinders Ranges.

After we got home I was starting to organise the photos for the website and was trying to pin down exactly where one shot was taken (our next camera will have built-in GPS!). I was doing the usual thing of looking on Google Earth, working out approximate driving distances since the last known photo etc. when somehow I stumbled across photos of Parachilna Gorge in full flood. These were by Peter MacDonald, a professional photographer, and appeared on his website. He's happy for me to use his pictures to show the fantastic change that occurred just a few days after we were there.

Obviously the pictures aren't taken from exactly the same spot as ours, but I think they show the effect of the rain.
