These wonderful gardens are in Somerset. The land is owned by Somerset County Council, which started one of the first major garden restoration schemes in the country in1973.  The gardens are now run by a trust and restoration continues, and will probably do so for many years.

The gardens are the finest example of collaboration between the garden designer Gertrude Jekyll and the architect Sir Edwin Lutyens.
