A simple map of our journey |
|
OK - it's a very, very simple map, but you might be like us. Before we planned this trip our idea of the geography was very hazy - we knew San Francisco was on the west coast, and Las Vegas was in a desert somewhere, but beyond that .... We flew in to Las Vegas from Gatwick. After four days that ended with Linda & Rob's wedding we toured east, to Zion, and Bryce, and then back via the Grand Canyon. We went to the Page and saw the dam on Lake Powell rather the Hoover Dam. It's only very slightly lower, and a whole lot less busy. It was so quiet that we had a 'private' talk by one of the staff. We came back via Las Vegas, as any other route would have been more difficult. After an overnight stop (and a car swap - see the pics, it goes from blue to red but is otherwise identical) we went west. Our route took us through Death Valley, Sequoia National Park and Yosemite, and then across to the coast at Carmel before ending up in San Francisco. Four days in San Francisco (we would have stayed much longer if we could) and then we flew back to Heathrow. |
