Perth

Surprisingly, given the travelling, we only slept to about 7.30am. We had to start by unpacking a few things as we hadn't done any the night before.
We'd already decided to make this a fairly lazy day. Started it by having breakfast at a pavement cafe a short walk from our hotel. We strolled around the city centre and sorted out the essentials - suntan lotion and a pay-as-you-go sim card for Anne's phone - our temporary phone number is 0405 822879 (yes they have fewer digits that we do).
We walked down to Barrack Quay with the idea of taking a boat to Freemantle but there wasn't one for a couple of hours. Instead we visited the Bell Tower which was open and the bell ringers were practising. We had our first cold beer of the holiday and then took a two-hour trip on the City Explorer Tram. Getting off the tram we decided we'd eat before going back to the hotel, but as it was late afternoon almost nowhere was serving food. In the end we went to Fast Eddy's - which coincidentally had been pointed out on the tram tour and only left us a ten minute walk back to the hotel.
We spent the evening sorting out various bits and pieces before having an early night to catch up on lost sleep.
