| We decided to have a short break. Anne had been wanting to go to
Madeira for the last few years. Everyone we know seemed to have been
there and enjoyed it. Special apologies to Pam P, whose guidebooks
etc we borrowed ages ago. Anne spotted an offer in the newspaper for flights and accommodation, Form 12th to 14th March, so off we went. Travel was no problem. Excellent flight and service with TAP. Accommodation was very good, on the western limits of Funchal. Too far to walk in to the town centre (given the problems with Les's knees), but there were delightful restaurants nearby, and we're too old to worry about night-life. We hired a car for the duration, so we had one day touring the western end, a day in Funchal and its gardens, and a day touring the east. |
