We went to stay with Dick & Pam in their new house in Pont-Aven (which various London friends have mis-heard as Ponders End). They’d had an awful summer, and we had just one day of sun but at least we had no rain.

Rather than drive we flew to Brest (about 90k from their place) and they chauffeured us around. A great time visiting towns, churches etc, and of course  having galettes for lunch and seafood in the evening.
